Simon Holt Restaurant, Nanaimo

A friend of ours asked if we had ever been to this establishment and, of course, we said no. We hadn’t even heard of this hidden treasure. After doing our Costco grocery run, we decided to see if we could find it. Well, we did and then debated if we would wait for our friend to return to Nanaimo or go in and see what it was like.

Well……we parked the vehicle and went in. We were promptly seated and our server, Dana, appeared immediately with two glasses of the coldest ice water I think we have ever received in any establishment. It was delicious. She took our coffee order and we perused the menu.

Oh my, oh my it is extensive, mouth-watering and enticing all at the same time. We opted (‘cuz we are trying to be good with our choices) for the lighter side of things.

Don ordered the seafood chowder and I ordered the Artisan salad. Winners on both sides. Don’s chowder was beyond anything you could imagine for a commercial establishment. It was more like homemade with my husband being the cook. He kept giving me ‘tastes’, broth, huge shrimp, salmon yummmmmm.

My Artisan salad was heavenly as well. Mixed spring greens, dried cranberries, candied nuts, feta cheese (I think) and the lightest honey dressing and not swimming in it.

Our server,Dana, was truly professional at the highest level. Checking to see if we needed more coffee, were we liking our lunch.

If you haven’t been here…run. It is so worth it.
