A Visit To Parksville

On Sunday, after Church and a light lunch (that is another story) Don decided to take a drive to Parksville to sightsee. We had never been there and the drive is very beautiful. We stopped off and played a game of Mini Golf (it had been years) and this one is the most interesting and challenging game designs that I have ever played. It was a lot of fun and on a beautiful sunny afternoon, it couldn’t be better.

Now, it is time for lunch. Where to go? We drove down the highway for a bit and nothing came to mind but Don said, let’s try to find a Pub as they always have good food. I tried to google it and found 3 listed. One was about 40 km from where we were and the other? HAHAHA It was 150 ft ahead of us.  It is the RJ Rod & Gun Hospitality .

We went in and it is huge. They have one of the longest bars and it looks like a Saloon of old in the middle of a large room. I thought this was the entire restaurant but it is not.  They have an dining room on the other side of this and then, again, you go outside to a patio area. For those who smoke, there is an ‘upper deck’ just for that purpose. Grab a beer and away you go.

Our server, Chelsii was delightful and very helpful. She talked about the City, beaches and how wonderful it was to live here. We found the prices for food is a lot less expensive here than, say a larger City.

Don ordered the Bangers and Mash and I ordered the ‘Loaded Local’. A burger that had beef, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, lettuce and a pickle. Whew! Don like the Bangers and Mash and his beer. Because they had only one brand of wine (one I won’t consume) I ordered a Michelobe Ultra Beer. I find it even better than Coors Light and that used to be the only beer I would ever try, if I had to.  We spent a most enjoyable time in this establishment and I can honestly say, we will be back.

Back home we go and, again, it is a wonderful drive and we have so much more to peruse here on the Island.

2 Chefs Affair Again

It is isn’t often I will review a restaurant twice, unless it was really different from the first time. This is not the case.

After Church on Mother’s Day, we went to 2 Chefs Affair (like we do every Sunday) but whoa! I wasn’t thinking. Mother’s Day – busiest day of the year I think, and it was reservations only. We were asked if we had made one and, of course, we said no. After checking the reservation book and looking at the clock, they found us a table informing us we had about 45 minutes before they would require the table. I don’t have a problem with that. I was just thankful we didn’t get turned away.

Kieran came over and informed us of the special of the morning. It was Eggs Benedict with their special Hollandaise sauce with oven roasted asparagus drizzled with Balsamic vinegar and a side of fried potatoes. OMG! I never, ever order Eggs Benedict in a restaurant (Don makes them superbly) but…..it sounded so good that we both ordered them.

After we heard the ‘choir singing’, we absolutely devoured the plates. It was sooooo good. The balsamic drizzle made it totally. We didn’t have to worry about getting out on time. Other guests had left so it was all okay.

We thanked them again for getting us in. It would have been devastating if that hadn’t happened.
