Moxie’s Restaurant, Kelowna, B.C.

While in Kelowna on a two day “get away’, we stopped in to have some lunch at Moxie’s on the patio. http://moxies.ca/menu/summer-feature-menu?city=Kelowna&location=912  It was a perfect day – warm, sun shining and excited about shopping for shoes. Yes…shoes. I haven’t worn high heels for 24 years and this is, uh, another story. Carrying on…

I ordered my favourite wine – Pinot Gris and Don ordered his beer and then we had to decide what we wanted to have. We were pampered to have two servers – Cherie who was delightful (and very attractive) and her trainee server, Brooklynne (again, very attractive) and both very food knowledgeable.

We decided to share a couple of things. Don chose the Bruschetta to start and, I must say that, as I don’t eat onions, they were so finely grated it was manageable for me. It was heavy on the garlic but very enjoyable. I chose the pizza – shrimp and wild mushroom……yummmmmmmmy!

Oh my goodness, it was delicious.

The restaurant establishments are really tuned in to hiring young ladies that are not hard on the eyes, wear a uniform of sorts (all black, your choice of design) and it works, it really does.

When in Kelowna, give this one a thumbs up and dine – lunch or dinner- and it will be a winner.

Pasta Factory, Penticton

Every now and then,  I get surprised…and pleasantly so. Today, while in Penticton, my husband decided to try something different for lunch. I hesitated because we have been so disappointed in the past. We drove to the Pasta Factory and went in.https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en-CA&source=hp&q=pasta+factory+penticton&gbv=2&oq=pasta+factory&gs_l=heirloom.The decor is rather funky – different levels and lots of art work. One, I have to say, I fell in love with. We were seated at a table with a view to the street.

Don ordered the white sauced clam chowder and his beer. I ordered the crab and spinach dip with focaccio bread and a glass of Pinot Grisgio.

I was so surprised. Don found the chowder to be second only to that from Moe’s in Oregon. Believe me, this is high praise indeed. We have actually had the chowder from Oregon shipped in on a few occasions, he loved it so much.

I, on the other hand, found the crab and spinach dip (warmed to perfection) to be better than one from another source that has the spinach and artichoke dip. I kid you not, we couldn’t eat it all, but it was plate licking good. Also, they had the best chilled wine I have had for a very long while in a restaurant. It was perfect.

Our server, Emily, was a terrific young lady. Pleasant, happy and knew her menu well. A great asset to have.

The next time you are wanting to try something new, head o n down to this place. It is a neat place to dine in.
