Auntie Ag’s Seafood Cafe

Yesterday, after smelling my oven cleaning itself and having all the windows cleaned and shiny (professionally done here, thank you), Don said he was taking me out to lunch.  Who am I to say no?

We went into the local Submarine place but the smells drove me out and we went across the street and decided to return to Auntie Ag’s. http://www.auntieagsseafoodcafe.com/

I don’t know where to begin…..we walked in and seated ourselves and while waiting for the server to come to our table, I started looking around and the one thing that I first commented on was the clean, looking almost freshly washed, starched and ironed curtains..they sparkled.

Our server came, took our order and now we both start looking around. This has to be the cleanest  establishment I have been in, in a very long time. Even the ridge on the baseboards was free of dust and the floors shone they were so clean.

The food came, hotter than hot I might add. Don ordered the Poutine. I said ‘whaaaat? I ordered the special 1 piece  of fish  with fries, coleslaw and their homemade tartar sauce.

The poutine was almost the best ever. The gravy was fresh and not a canned or powdered funny tasting substitute, the cheese was ample and melting ever so into a  sea of perfection on wonderful fries.

I had the fish, again perfectly battered and yummy, fries-hot and fresh tasting. This is a great place to eat.

Out server offered a variety of pies for dessert but we were far too full to even look at anything.

This is a hidden little gem in Oliver. It is reasonable $$, super clean, good food and yes, we will return.

Moxie’s Restaurant – Kelowna, B.C.

Have you ever returned to a certain restaurant because:

 a) service is good

(b) food is good or

( c) both and more?

Of course you have. We did yesterday and returned to Moxie’s.http://www.moxies.ca/

It is so upbeat in decor and sparkles with cleanliness and the friendlly smiles that greet you at the door is always a treat.  We had an appointment to go to and told them of a time restraint and, believe me, we did not have to wait.

Trying to lose weight,  I opted for the salad and 1/2 turkey club sandwich.  I informed them about no onions and when it came, the server said it wasn’t onions but shallots…..I couldn’t eat the salad. The half sandwich was so large, I had to split it in two and eat it that way. WOW!

Don had the soup. I believe it was Broccoli/Cheese and he ordered the Beef Dip.  He loved it.

The Manager, Christine, came over to the table and asked if we were enjoying our meal. When I mentioned, only in a light-hearted way about the shallots, she flew off to return with a new salad/dressing as  I was still protesting that it certainly wasn’t necessary.

THIS, by the way to Managers in the Food Industry, is what the ‘ best of what you do with your job’  is all about. NOT just because she replaced a small salad, but her friendliness, conversation, smiles and, talking about our Pandora bracelets helped. Just kidding…..

This was, AGAIN, a wonderful experience for lunch. Please give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
