2 Chefs Affair Again

It is isn’t often I will review a restaurant twice, unless it was really different from the first time. This is not the case.

After Church on Mother’s Day, we went to 2 Chefs Affair (like we do every Sunday) but whoa! I wasn’t thinking. Mother’s Day – busiest day of the year I think, and it was reservations only. We were asked if we had made one and, of course, we said no. After checking the reservation book and looking at the clock, they found us a table informing us we had about 45 minutes before they would require the table. I don’t have a problem with that. I was just thankful we didn’t get turned away.

Kieran came over and informed us of the special of the morning. It was Eggs Benedict with their special Hollandaise sauce with oven roasted asparagus drizzled with Balsamic vinegar and a side of fried potatoes. OMG! I never, ever order Eggs Benedict in a restaurant (Don makes them superbly) but…..it sounded so good that we both ordered them.

After we heard the ‘choir singing’, we absolutely devoured the plates. It was sooooo good. The balsamic drizzle made it totally. We didn’t have to worry about getting out on time. Other guests had left so it was all okay.

We thanked them again for getting us in. It would have been devastating if that hadn’t happened.

Gecko’s Grill, Oliver, B.C.

It has been a while since we were here for lunch and, to be truthful, this restaurant has suffered some really bad comments from the locals in previous years. I am here to tell you to forget all that. The food is excellent and the portions are unbelievable.

Last week when my best beau (translation: husband) and I went for lunch it was, of course, filled with golfers but we found a table. Don ordered the Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich and I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger. We both ordered a Pepsi.

Out it came and our eyes were wide open….wider! Don ‘s sandwich was loaded with meat, onions and cheese. It was huge. He was only able to consume one half of this giant. Fries came with it but only a few were eaten.

Mine must have had a pound of mushrooms in it (okay, but lots and lots), the cheese was really generous and man- oh- man was this delicious. It was all I could do to eat one half of this as well. Just a few of the fries and I am so sorry we couldn’t eat this all.

The food is so much better than it has ever been and our server, Cheryl, was mighty awesome. They were running it was so busy but she forgot no one in her area.

Well done, Gecko’s. We will certainly return.

P.S. Can I have the rest of my burger and fries? Oh, Don says he wants his Philly Steak and Cheese as well.
