Buy The Sea, Penticton, BC

I have known, myself, some pretty heartless landlords in my lifetime but today I heard of a new one. A real scummy one in fact. The market place is called Apple Plaza.

We have been dealing with Buy The Sea, a fish monger in Penticton  http://www.buythesea.ca/ for over 2 years. Also they serve the very best shrimp sandwich at lunchtime. This is true.

This business has been in the same spot for 20 years……until now. With barely 30 days notice, Apple Plaza told the owners of this establishment they have until June 15 to vacate the premises. Another tenant is coming in.

Now…there was a small space next to our fish monger that was vacant. Buy the Sea management was not given the opportunity to take it on and expand a little bit…after all, they had been here 20 years. No siree…the callous landlord dropped the bomb on these people and they have to move.

I spoke with Mike today (having eaten another fabulous shrimp sandwich) and he mentioned they were a day or two away from putting in new equipment.

I wish Buy The Sea the very best in the near future. Anyone who lives or visits Penticton should stop in to their new place #106, 2100 Main Street. (just 2 blocks south, beside Old Town Farm Market).

Andbe sure to order a shrimp sandwich…you won’t be sorry.

Salty’s Beach House, Penticton

Yesterday, while on the way to Kelowna to pick up what I thought was to be my sister-in-law-turned-out-to-be-my-daughter surprise, we stopped in for lunch at Salty’s. (It had been a while or so it seemed).

We decided to split something and went for the Bahama Breeze Pizza. Now, here is a pizza. Beautiful, thin  crust that is topped with Prawns, scallops, bacon and roasted garlic, oven-dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, manchego cheese, avocado and wasabi lime vinaigrette.

Then because it was my birthday we were going to celebrate,  they brought out a key lime tart with their birthday wishes. Wow, this was great. The tart was absolutely divine.

Now we go to pay and the girls gave us lunch as a gift. Totally unexpected but extremely touched. Thank you Daiya and our great server.

I may never order anything but this pizza ever again. Don had it last time and I only tasted it. This time we shared but next time…..it will be mine-all mine. Darn this is one fine pizza.

Note to Reader: This is second time in a week we had TWO fabulous pizzas and none were in a pizza establishment. Way to go Penticton.

You don’t have to ask if we will return here…..it is always a definite yes. Great food, great service and wonderful ambience right across the street from the Lake.
